NEB Postpones Grade 12 Examination Following PM's Directive

The National Examination Board (NEB) has officially postponed the Grade 12 examinations, originally scheduled to begin this Thursday. As per NEB Chairperson Dr. Mahashram Sharma, the exams will now start from Baisakh 21 (May 4, 2025).

Earlier in the day, the Board had resolved to go ahead with the exams by mobilizing staff under the leadership of Chief District Officers. However, the move sparked widespread criticism, leading to a reversal of the decision by the evening.

Throughout the day, NEB officials held a series of discussions with government representatives. The turning point came after a meeting with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who, citing the sensitive situation, instructed the Board to postpone the exams.

The decision follows growing pressure from the Nepal Teachers' Federation, which had urged educators and staff not to participate in the examination process. The federation has been organizing Kathmandu-based protests since Chaitra 20 and had declared a nationwide educational strike starting Chaitra 25.
