The Department of Educational Planning and Management at Prithvi Narayan Campus, with support from the University Grants Commission, successfully concluded the National Conference on Teacher Education in Pokhara on Monday, Baisakh 12.
The three-day conference, commenced on Saturday, Baisakh 10, was focused on exploring innovations and challenges within teacher education. Seventeen working papers related to teacher education were presented during the event held at the Jargojen Hall of the Gandaki Pragya Pratisthan.
Academics and experts including Yadav Paraj Adhikari, Shruti Sharma, Shakuntala Pageni, Dr. Pitri Raj Bastola, Dr. Pitambar Paudel, Dr. Kharika Devi Parajuli, Dr. Shree Krishna Panthi, Dr. Prem Prasad Paudel, Dr. Bishnu Prasad Sharma, Ram Prasad Subedi, Dr. Khaga Raj Baral, Prof. Dr. Guru Prasad Subedi, educationist Prof. Dr. Bidyanath Koirala, and educationist Prof. Dr. Basudev Kafle presented working papers on various aspects of teacher education.
The opening day of the conference featured Professor Dr. Guru Prasad Subedi from Nepal Sanskrit University as the keynote speaker, who delivered a presentation on the Gurukul education system.
Similarly, on the second day, keynote speakers educationist Prof. Dr. Bidyanath Koirala spoke on teacher education and teacher training in a changing landscape, and Dr. Khagaraj Baral, former Education Secretary of the Government of Nepal and Chairman of NAST Service Commission, presented a paper on the practice, challenges, and future direction of teachers and teacher education in Nepal.
On the third day, keynote speaker educationist Prof. Dr. Basudev Kafle presented his paper on equity, inclusion, and diversity in teacher education.
The conference inaugurated by Dr. Kapil Adhikari, Dean of Gandaki University, was chaired by Dr. Krishna Panthi, Head of the Educational Planning and Management Department, while educationist Prof. Dr. Basudev Kafle concluded the event on Monday.
The conference, coordinated by Dr. Krishna Panti, Head of the Department of Educational Planning and Management, saw the participation of over 50 educators and professors, including Ram Prasad Subedi and Govind Prasad Gaire, members of the Department of Educational Planning and Management, participant Kalpana Dhungana, Dr. Navaraj Neupane, Head of the Department of English Education, and Gajendra Prasad Chwai, Assistant Campus Chief of the Faculty of Education. Panel discussions and breakout sessions on various topics were also conducted during the event.
