Mid-West University held its fourth convocation ceremony on Asar 3, 2083 (June 17, 2026), in Surkhet to confer degrees upon eligible graduates who had successfully completed their academic programs. Addressing the Fourth Convocation Ceremony of Mid-West University held on June 17, 2026, in Surkhet, Education Minister Sasmit Pokharel highlighted the government’s priority to make university education more relevant, technology-friendly, and employment-oriented. He stated that curricula are being revised to align higher education with labor market demands.

The minister emphasized the following key points:

  • Universities should prioritize research on Karnali Province’s natural and cultural resources, including water resources, forests, medicinal herbs, tourism, and cultural heritage, to support local development and economic growth.
  • Quality education and innovation can strengthen Nepal’s economy and improve global competitiveness.
  • Youth should actively engage in research, innovation, and entrepreneurship to address national challenges such as poverty, unemployment, climate change, health issues, information technology, and biodiversity.

Congratulating the graduating students, Minister Pokharel reiterated that education plays a vital role in nation-building and encouraged graduates to use their knowledge and skills for the development of society and the country.
