An interaction program was organized by Microbiology struggle committee 2071 today in Tri Chandra Campus, Ghantaghar, Kathmandu.
The event was jointly organized by Nepal Medical Microbiology Student Association, and Microbiological Students Association of Tri Chandra (M-SAT), Department of Microbiology Ghantaghar, Kathmandu, Nepal. Microbiology students are demanding appropriate job opportunities for them, formation of Microbiology Council in Nepal and continuation of distribution of NHPC license to M.Sc Microbiology graduates who have specialized in Medical Microbiology.
After Sharvan Kumar Mishara became Chariman of NHPC, he has discontinued the issue of license to these graduates telling they read in Institute of Science and Technology instead of Institute of Medicine.
Various student leaders expressed solidarity in the protest program of M.Sc graduates, among the student leaders present in the program were ANNFSU treasurer- Rashmi Acharya, ANNISU-R Vice-Chairman Jagrit Rayamajhi.
Stating more than 80% of Microbiology graduates of Tribhuvan University are in USA, UK and other developed countries. They are involved in various research activities and academic programs in worlds reputed universities, Rashmi Acharya asked, why can not our government utilize these experts in Nepal? He told that, student organization will make the demands of these graduates/students their common demand and will fight until these demands are met.
Dr. Rajani Malla, President of Nepalese Society of Microbiology (NESOM) told that M.Sc graudates are eligible to work not only in the heath research field but also in various research areas from immunology to Genetics. They are well equipped with necessary knowledge and skills. The demand of Nepalese Microbiology graduates all over the world and their acceptance in P.hD and Post doc programs of various universities is the proof of that.
Janak Dhungana, President of Nepal Medical Microbiology Association who was also injured in the police action said, they will continue to fight until all the demands raised by graduates were met.
Assistant campus chief of Tri Chandra campus while expressing the solidarity in the protest program of Microbiology graduates condemn the recent brutal attack of Nepal police among the students of Tri-Chandra campus. Few days ago police entered in the lab, class etc and indiscriminately baton charge to them.
Campuses affiliated with Tribhuvan University and offering M.Sc Microbiology and B.Sc Microbiology has been closed across Nepal expressing the solidarity in the program.
