Lumbini Buddhist University to run BBTTM (Bachelor in Buddhism, Tourism, and Travel Management)

Bhairahawa: Lumbini Buddhist University is going to start Bachelor of Buddhism, Travel and Tourism Management (BBTTM).

 The course was commenced in Butwal last year. After good job prospects and attraction of students towards this course, the University has decided to run the classes. 

Dr. Manik Ratna Shakya, the Dean of Lumbini Buddhist University informed that from the coming academic year in the first semester, itis going to start the admission.

Students who have passed +2 are eligible to apply for this post. The course has been started first time in Nepal in Lumbini Buddhist University. Tribhuvan University has been running the course in Travel and Tourism in Kathmandu only. The main objective of this course is to develop the skilled manpower in  Hotel, airlines, tour guide, travel agency, and management sectors. The course is of eight semesters in which students learn the different language such as English, Chinese and Korean. 

Before running the classes in BBTTM, Central Department of Lumbini, there was the discussion in the local level. The elected representative of the locals of Lumbini committed to providing a scholarship to at least 6 students from their own level.  

Campus Chief, Fanindra Neupane said that the student who comes to enroll in the first year will be provided with 50 percent scholarship. He further added that they have been planning to create more skilled manpower from Lumbini itself and has expected support from the locals as well. 

Participating in the discussion, chairman of Marchawari Rural Municipality, Keshavananda Baniya, said that Lumbini Buddha University is a key factor in the development of Lumbini area. He also expressed the commitment to support the university.
Chairman of Mayadevi Rural Municipality, Dhruvanarayan Chaudhary, said that the proposal of providing scholarship by the municipality is positive and expressed that the municipality will support to increase manpower in tourism development. Similarly, Chairman of Kothimaai Rural Municipality, Chandrabhusan Yadav said that the development of Buddhist Education and Lumbini is possible through education.

Chairman of Gaidahawa Rural Municipality, Bachchu Lal Kewat, expressed the commitment to support the implementation of the plan of the universities in the area. He also said that the provision of the scholarship will be decided in upcoming budget issue.

In the program, vice-chairman of Lumbini Sanskriti Municipality, Janaki Devi Shreevastav, Chief Bishnu Dhungana, along with Administrative officers of different Rural Municipalities spoke in the support of university saying that the University should be developed as the pride not only of Lumbini but as the pride of the whole country. 

The University has been running Bachelor, Master, and Ph. D degree in central campuses. In the same way, Certificate Level Language Class is also running. 

Assistant Campus Head, Nir Bahadur Gurung informed that BBTTM has been started for the production of necessary skilled manpower for Lumbini area.
