Lalbandi Municipality and Kathmandu University Partner to Establish Agricultural Campus

Lalbandi Municipality and Kathmandu University have reached an agreement to set up an agricultural campus in Lalbandi Municipality. This agreement signifies the first step towards establishing an agricultural campus in Kathmandu, where agricultural studies and teaching will take place within Lalbandi Municipality. The agreement has been signed by Mayor Basudev Adhikari and University Registrar Achyut Wagle.

In order to foster educational development and establish itself as an educational hub, Lalbandi Municipality has set its sights on establishing an agricultural campus within its boundaries, as stated by the Mayor. The municipality will handle the necessary land arrangements, while the university, in accordance with the agreement, will take charge of constructing the required infrastructure.

As disclosed by the Mayor, the agricultural campus will be established in Ward 16, specifically in the Parwanipur area of Lalbandi Municipality. After the land arrangements are finalized, the construction of the campus is set to be completed within a span of two years, as mutually agreed upon by Ganesh Bahadur Thapa, the Chairman of Lalbandi Municipality-16.

With the agricultural campus being set up in Lalbandi, the expectation is that students from the region will no longer have the need to seek agricultural studies elsewhere. This initiative is anticipated to benefit students not only from the eight districts of Madhesh Province but also from neighboring districts and even Uttar Pradesh in India. Recognizing the importance of prioritizing the establishment of the agricultural campus, a team comprising the Mayor and others had previously held discussions with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' and other officials to address this matter.
