Professor Bhola Thapa has been appointed as the vice-chancellor of Kathmandu University. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli who is the chancellor of the University appointed Thapa.

                                                                      

In the process of selection of vice-chancellor, the names of Dr. Ramkantha Makaju, Professor Dr. Bhola Thapa, and Professor Dr. Balchandra Luitel were put forward. Interestingly, asking questions about the selection came forward from professors' union; their qualifications and criteria to contest out for the post.

The search committee led by education minister Krishna Gopal Shrestha put forward the name of the probable candidates. Furthermore, the queries aloft after this selection.

Moreover, the search committee publicly asked for applications where more than 40 people applied for the post of vice-chancellor.

Likewise, the search committee includes minister Shrestha, former speaker Daman Nath Dhungana and former vice-chancellor Suresh Raj Sharma. The dissatisfaction of the professors' union came forward when the news of the selection came out.
