Krishnapur Municipality Orders Government Employees to Enroll Children in Public Schools

In a bold move aimed at revitalizing the quality of public education, Krishnapur Municipality of Kanchanpur has mandated that all government service employees, including teachers, staff, and elected officials, enroll their children in community schools. This decision was passed during the municipality’s 38th executive council meeting held on March 31.

According to Information Officer Prem Bogati, the decision was driven by growing concerns over the declining quality of education in public schools—largely attributed to the lack of engagement by officials whose children were studying elsewhere. "This move ensures that those responsible for managing and supporting community schools are also directly invested in their success," said Bogati.

The policy will take effect from the new academic session (2082), and will apply to the children of municipal staff, school management committee members, and teacher-parent association representatives. Information Officer Thagunna further stated that the municipality has assigned specific responsibilities to the mayor and all ward representatives to monitor and support implementation across all 32 community schools in the region.

To lead by example, Mayor Hemraj Ojha officially launched the enrollment campaign at Krishna Secondary School in Ward No. 4 on Tuesday. “As per the municipal decision, I have personally joined the enrollment drive. I call on all stakeholders to support and participate in this campaign,” said Mayor Ojha.

Ward representatives have already begun coordinating with local schools to facilitate enrollment and raise public awareness. The campaign represents a significant step toward rebuilding trust in public education and improving academic standards across Krishnapur.
