Kathmandu Model College Hosts "Synergy" Meeting to Strengthen Global Academic Collaborations

Kathmandu Model College (KMC) successfully organized the "Synergy: Strategic Academic Partnership Meeting," uniting prominent academic leaders from Nepal and the United States to explore collaborative opportunities aimed at fostering innovation and shared academic growth. The event, chaired by Prof. Dr. Upendra Kumar Koirala, Chairman of KMC's College Management Committee, highlighted the importance of global partnerships in driving educational excellence and societal transformation.

Distinguished speakers included Prof. Dr. Prem Narayan Aryal, Vice-Chancellor of Pokhara University; Prof. Dr. Dhurba Kumar Gautam, Vice-Chancellor of Mid-West University, Prof. Dr. Biju Kumar Thapaliya, Vice-Chancellor of Purbanchal University; Prof. Dr. Deepak Bahadur Shakya, Vice-Chancellor of Madhesh University; and Prof. Dr. Balaji Krishnan, Vice-Provost of the University of Memphis, USA.

Surendra Subedi, KMC’s College Chief, delivered the opening remarks, emphasizing the college’s commitment to global collaboration as a means of enriching academic programs, expanding research, and addressing global challenges. "Cross-border collaboration is essential in our pursuit of educational excellence and societal impact," Subedi stated.

Prof. Dr. Koirala underscored the role of partnerships in achieving the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and enhancing Nepalese universities’ global presence. He encouraged the attendees to embrace collaboration as a way to drive innovation, improve research, and foster social development. "Academic institutions must lead the way in solving global challenges through cooperation and stronger education systems," he noted.

The event featured interactive sessions where academic leaders shared insights on cross-disciplinary research, entrepreneurship in education, and the need for universities to engage with local communities. Prof. Dr. Aryal highlighted the importance of faculty exchanges and collaborative research, while Prof. Dr. Gautam emphasized joint research addressing both local and global challenges. Prof. Dr. Thapaliya called for a focus on entrepreneurship and skill development, preparing students for the global market, and Prof. Dr. Shakya stressed the role of academic partnerships in regional development. Prof. Dr. Krishnan discussed the increasing importance of digital education and international student mobility.

In recognition of the collaboration, Prof. Dr. Koirala presented tokens of appreciation to the distinguished guests, symbolizing KMC’s dedication to fostering lasting academic relationships.
