KMC and Far East University Sign MOU to Boost Educational Exchange and Innovation

Kathmandu Model College (KMC) of Nepal and Far East University (FEU) of the Republic of Korea signed a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Monday (August 19) to foster international educational cooperation. This agreement includes initiatives such as student and faculty exchanges, collaborative research, entrepreneurship promotion, and joint exploration and application of Generative AI (GenAI) technology.

The MOU was formalized by Surendra Subedi, Principal of Kathmandu Model College, and Kee-il Ryu, President of Far East University. A key feature of the agreement is the launch of the Kathmandu Model College - Far East University Scholarship program, which will offer scholarships to students from KMC and its affiliated institutions for short-term academic programs in aviation safety, information technology, and other fields at FEU. The collaboration will also provide students with access to incubator and accelerator programs, as well as mentorship opportunities to support entrepreneurial development. Furthermore, plans are underway to establish research centers, develop innovation labs, and expand industry partnerships through collaborative efforts in GenAI technologies.

At the signing ceremony, Prof. Dr. Upendra Kumar Koirala, Chairman of the College Management Committee, highlighted the new research opportunities this collaboration presents. He stressed the importance of joint programs to sustain the long-term relationship between the two institutions. Principal Surendra Subedi noted that this partnership would create valuable opportunities for both students and faculty to engage in collaborative research, benefiting both KMC and FEU.

The event was attended by several notable figures, including Prof. Dr. Upendra Kumar Koirala, Co-Prof. Ajay Dhakal, Director of KMC, representatives from Nepal’s Ministry of Education, Dhurba Timalsina, Chief of the Internal Quality Assurance and Accreditation Committee, and President Kee-il Ryu of Far East University, alongside other key university officials.
