Khairahani Municipality's Home Learning Initiative for Underprivileged Children

Khairahani Municipality has initiated home learning classes to support and target underprivileged children in needy settlements. Home learning classes are conducted in 28 locations within the municipality during the morning and afternoon hours.

The mayor of the municipality, Shashikumar Khaniya, stated that the purpose of conducting home learning classes is to provide a conducive environment for studying at home, as it is challenging for underprivileged children in needy settlements. In collaboration with local teachers, the municipality has organized these classes to facilitate regular learning and provide opportunities for acquiring new knowledge.

Mayor Khaniya mentioned that home learning classes will be regularly conducted in settlements where teachers reside, ensuring proper time management. The municipality will oversee the organization of classes in these locations. He emphasized that the first school for children is their home, and due to the impact of poverty, parents often find it difficult to allocate time for their children's studies. Therefore, the municipality has taken the initiative to create an environment for learning at home through home learning classes.

In the 28 designated locations within the municipality where home learning classes will be conducted, a total of 784 children from underprivileged families will participate, according to Mayor Khaniya. The municipality will manage the locations for learning and has arranged for teachers to reach settlements without proper educational facilities.

The Deputy Mayor of the municipality, Kavita Upreti, highlighted that the teachers conducting home learning classes will not only support children from within the municipality but also coordinate with other areas to distribute educational materials. She expressed confidence in developing learning skills among participating children and emphasized that the municipality has allocated a budget of NPR 2 million to operate home learning classes during the current fiscal year.
