Education, Science, and Technology Minister Pramila Kumari has announced that a bill pertaining to school education is slated to be passed in the ongoing parliamentary session. This revelation was made during a program organized by Kathmandu's Loyalty Academy on Falgun 19, 2080.
Despite the establishment of democracy in the country 15 years ago, Minister Kumari expressed regret over the persistent enforcement of the Education Act 920280 from the Panchayat era. She pointed out, "The issues persist due to the new law introduced by the constitution of Nepal for the implementation of educational rights," emphasizing the urgent need for a new education act.
She appealed to the parliamentary committee to hasten the passage of the bill, underscoring that a new education act would address various issues related to education.
During the program, concerns were raised about the impractical provision of placing institutional schools under the trust system in the education bill.
Vijay Sambhahamphe, the founding chairman of Loyalty Academy, highlighted the distinctive contribution of institutional schools to education in Nepal.
Nanda Subba, the academy's director, explained that quality education has been made possible because of institutional schools. In the same program, Prakriti Adhikari, an education journalist from Gorkhapatra, was honored with the Loyalty National Education Journalism Award.
