KU's Growing Presence Across Provinces

Kathmandu University (KU) is currently conducting academic activities across six provinces, with the sole exception of Karnali Province, through its constituent and affiliated programs. To expand its provincial footprint, KU called for open applications and, through a transparent selection process, has granted affiliation to more than a dozen colleges outside the Kathmandu Valley in the current academic year.

The university has successfully expanded its academic horizon with specialized programs such as Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT), Bachelor in Health Informatics (BHI), Bachelor of Technical Education in Information Technology (BTech Ed-IT), Bachelor of Social Work (BSW), and Bachelor of Hotel Management (BHM). As a prime example of this expansion, the Bachelor of Hotel Management (BHM) program is currently being run in Bardibas of Madhesh Province through a partnership between KU and NATHM (KU-NATHM).

Kathmandu University (KU) has expanded its scholarship scheme across all seven provinces in the current academic year, offering a 100% tuition fee waiver for meritorious Grade 12 graduates. This initiative aims to further strengthen coordination with provincial governments.

The program is being launched and implemented in collaboration with various provincial ministries. These include the Ministry of Social Development in Koshi, Bagmati, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces; the Ministry of Education and Culture in Madhesh Province; and the Ministry of Social Development, Youth and Sports in Gandaki Province.

According to the university, the full scholarships are being provided for specific undergraduate programs: Bachelor's degrees in Mining, Chemical, and Environmental Engineering; Bachelor in Health Informatics; Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Environmental Science; and Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Agriculture. The objective of this provincial expansion is to bolster Nepal's human resource capacity and provide quality higher education to students from diverse socio-economic backgrounds.
