Kathmandu University welcome the new Vice Chancellor Dr. Ram Kantha Makaju Shrestha in a programme organized today at the Central Office, Dhulikhel.
Rt. Hon'ble Chancellor and the Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai had appointed Dr. Shrestha as the Vice Chancellor of the University for a period of four years on 12 December, 2012; as per the recommendation of the search committee headed by Hon'ble Pro-Chancellor and the Minister for Education Mr. Dina Nath Sharma along with other two senate members Mr. Daman Nath Dhungana and Dr. Lok Bikram Thapa.
Dr. Ram Kantha Makaju Shrestha was appointed as Vice-Chancellor of Kathmandu University after the resignation of Dr. Suresh Raj Sharma, the founder Vice-Chancellor of the University on November 9, 2012.
Dr. Shrestha is the founder director of Dhulikhel Hospital. He is Professor of Surgery at Kathmandu University School of Medical Sciences. Dr. Shrestha has served Kathmandu University in different capacities such as Senator Member, member of Board of Trustees, member of Academic Council, member of Executive Council, and Associate Dean, School of Medical Sciences, in different time periods.
Addressing the faculties and staffs, Vice Chancellor Dr. Shrestha said that KU has succeeded to present its own characteristics that are well-known to the national and international community. Students must be in the centre whatever we do, and our efforts have to be focused to provide quality education. Further, he said that there are also challenges to preserve the unique features and values of KU and these challenges should be overcome through our mutual effort.
In the programme, Controller of Examinations, Prof. Dr. Pushpa Raj Adhikari; Deans, Prof. Dr. Bhola Thapa and Prof. Dr. Panna Thapa; and Affiliation Affaires Director Prof. Dr. Sanjay Nath Khanal welcomed the newly appointed Vice Chancellor on behalf of all the faculties and staffs of KU. Chief of Management Service Division Mr. Mukunda Prasad Upadhyaya introduced and briefed the resume of Dr. Shrestha. Representing the local donors, Mr. Prithivi Thapa proposed the vote of thanks on the occasion.
