The Tribhuvan University Central Library has put in place an online system to issue the International Standards Book Number (ISBN) through online system from now onward.
At a programme held here today, TU's Rector Prof Dr Shivalal Bhusal opened the online service by issuing the ISBN number to a book authored by Arbindra Kumar Keshari.
Before this, one has to be physically present before the central library to obtain ISBN number. On the occasion, he said the central library has utilized the lockdown time to go for technology-assisted online ISBN service. Prof Dr Bhusal further said that the TU has formulated a plan to operate the technology-friendly teaching-learning by fully utilizing the present pandemic as an opportunity.
Likewise, central library chief Purna Lal Shrestha said the library would gradually make its other service delivery in a tech-savvy manner. The library is formulating a plan to purchase software so that users can access library resources online from anywhere.
The central library has digitized and posted 44,369 books in the official websites and is also continuing with digitizing remaining books, said the library sources.
