Initiation of 'Smart School' Program in Kusma Community Schools

The 'Smart School' program has been initiated in Kusma Community Schools to make community schools technologically friendly.

The program, implemented in 13 schools in the first phase to connect teachers and students with modern technology, utilizes the 'Code Logic Technology' developed by the 'Smart School' application for efficient digital management of every activity in the schools where it has been introduced, as informed by the municipality.

According to Vishnu Prasad Tiwari, the Chief Administrative Officer of Kusma Municipality, this program has been implemented in schools such as Shivalaya Secondary School Kusma, Pangdhaireni Secondary School Pangma, Narayan Secondary School Kusma, Public Secondary School Katuwaa Chaupaari, Janak Secondary School Thum, and Kafalchaur Secondary School Durlung. Additionally, the program has been extended to Nuwakot Suvadithar Secondary School Pang, Kalika Secondary School Khurkot, Mangalodaya Secondary School Chhwa, Janata Sudarshan Secondary School Thulipokhari, Panchakoshi Secondary School Arthar, and Vishwajyoti Secondary School Shilmi.

Tiwari mentioned that after the successful implementation of the program in Shivalaya Secondary School Kusma and Pangdareni Secondary School Pang as a pilot project in the last fiscal year, 11 more schools have been included this year, making a total of 13 schools technologically friendly.

He also informed that around Rs. 5 million has been invested in setting up 'software' in 11 schools this year. Schools are using the software effectively for various purposes, making it technology-friendly. The budget required for its continuous use in the coming years can be managed within the existing budget, said Deepak Subedi, the education officer of the municipality.

Subedi further explained that after receiving positive feedback and seeing the ease of operation in the schools where the program was piloted, many schools have planned to implement the program based on their demand this year.

Kusma Municipality had allocated Rs. 14 million for education in the first fiscal year. Due to budget constraints, the program could not be implemented in other schools this year despite the initial plan to extend it to different schools. According to his statement, there is a budget of Rs. 3 million, and the municipality cannot support other schools this year due to the shortage of funds.

Ishwar Giri, Coordinator of the Social Development Committee of Kusma Municipality, mentioned that new software was installed in the new school at around Rs. 500,000. The school can significantly benefit from it as it provides information on student management, teacher and staff information, examination operations, management of financial systems, and integrated data from previous sessions in a virtual form. Damodar Poudel, a teacher, said that when the number of students in community schools is decreasing, it is easier to attract students and provide quality education to teachers when they become technologically friendly.
