Important Notice for Stakeholders - Admission to Medical Education Certificate Level by MEC

In accordance with the National Medical Education Act of 2075, the primary objective behind the establishment of the Medical Education Commission (MEC) is to ensure the standardization, integration, and effective management, regulation, and monitoring of medical education. The Act's Section 2, Subsection (n) defines a "related entity" as an organization officially recognized by the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) for providing formal technical and vocational education.

Any educational institution seeking establishment must follow the legal procedure and obtain an application from the Commission, which must be submitted for approval. The Commission, following the recommendations of the committee as stated in Rule 8 of the Regulations, will grant affiliation for medical education under CTEVT in accordance with the law.

Institutions recognized by the Commission and approved by the related entity through CTEVT will be notified about the allocation of seats for students, as specified in Section 17, Subsection (1) of the Act and Rule 10 of the Regulations. The Council, under Subsection (5) of Section 15 of the Act, holds the authority to phase out or upgrade any technical functions related to medical education while adhering to established criteria.

Regarding entrance examinations for certificate-level medical education under CTEVT, the Council is responsible for coordination in accordance with Subsection (5) of Section 16 of the Act, while also considering the legal provisions of the Council.

Furthermore, following the National Medical Education Act and the decisions of the Medical Education Commission (MEC), the executive committee of the MEC has formulated procedures for conducting medical education in universities, institutions, and other related entities governed by the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) Act of 2045.

Given the authority granted to the MEC by the National Medical Education Act of 2075, CTEVT is responsible for organizing entrance examinations for medical education within its jurisdiction, managing matters related to student admissions, curriculum updates, and seat allocations.

If any medical education institution, whether supportive or opposed, presents applications and grievances to the Higher Court in Patan seeking resolutions and orders concerning CTEVT-conducted medical education, CTEVT must be informed about such cases.

CTEVT's adherence to the Act and the Regulations is crucial, and it should consistently provide information through letters while complying with the directives of the Commission. Instances have arisen where CTEVT has disseminated misleading information conflicting with the Act passed by the Federal Parliament and the Regulations formulated by the Government of Nepal. To avoid further actions against CTEVT and ensure the Commission's earnest attention, appropriate measures should be taken to address tasks undertaken by CTEVT that have not followed the Commission's directives.
