Implementation of Community Schools for Sons and Daughters in Western Nawalparasi

The Sunwal Municipality of Western Nawalparasi has implemented a policy that mandates community school education for all sons and daughters. The policy and program, ensuring educational facilities for the children of all service users from the municipality, have been introduced.

According to the Mayor Bimala Aryal, the policy and program have been decided to be implemented in community schools using funds from the municipality for allowances, scholarships, and other facilities. This decision was made following the annual policy and program for the fiscal year 2080/81. The mayor mentioned that teachers, employees, and representatives have been included in the implementation of this policy.

Mayor Aryal highlighted the expectation that the educational standards of the schools within the municipality will also see improvement with the implementation of this policy. The community school's educational quality is expected to increase through this policy.

The municipality had initiated a campaign from the previous year to enroll students in community schools. The policy is set to be implemented from the upcoming academic session, as communicated by the municipality. The budget for allowances, scholarships, and facilities will be distributed to 367 individuals from the internal funds of the municipality. Mayor Aryal stated, "Including 211 employees, along with other 88 individuals from community school private resources and support from Saraswati fund, the total includes other teachers as well."

According to the mayor, there are 35 community schools within the municipality. Among them, three schools have been granted permission by the municipality to operate. Gurukul School, Madrasa, and Lumbini Samata Women's School are reported to be operating with approval from the municipality.
