IME and Global IME Bank selected students for Aakanshya Scholarship fund

IME Ltd. and Global IME Bank Ltd. have announced the name of 100 selected students under the IME Global IME Aakanshya Scholarship Fund for the year 2073 amid a program held in Kathmandu. The announcement was jointly made by IME and Global IME Bank’s Chairman Mr. Chandra P. Dhakal, CEO of Global IME Bank Mr. Anil Gyawali, CEO of IME Ltd. Mr. Suman Pokharel, Vice President of HISSAN – Dr. Swagat Shrestha and President of PABSON Mr. Bijay Sambahamphe. During the program Mr. Chandra P Dhakal said “The scholarship comes as a part of CSR initiative of IME and Global IME Bank and though small it is an initiative to contribute towards the bright future of the children of Nepal”. Dr. Shrestha briefed about the selection process while Mr. Sambahamphe encouraged such corporate initiation in the educational sector saying children are the future of the country and such initiative encourage the students to perform better.

The scholarship fund was announced on Kartik 01, 2073 and a total of 4613 valid forms were received. From the received forms, selection of students from class 1 to class 11 who belong a below average income earning family, earthquake victims, students who have a strong academic performance and students from all parts of the country have been selected. The Scholarship Fund is worth Rs. 1 Million per year and the two financial institutions aim to provide scholarships to 100 deserving students on annual basis. All scholarship forms were screened by the scholarship selection sub-committee under the Scholarship Fund Committee comprising of high-level officials from IME, Global IME Bank, HISSAN and PABSON including seasoned educationists and academicians. This comes as part of joint CSR initiative in the field of education by country’s premier financial institutions IME Ltd. and Global IME Bank.

This year’s scholarship program is the second edition of Aakanshya Scholarship that was introduced for the first time for the academic year 2072. Year 2072 was a huge success, where thousands of application were received from across the country. This year the number of applications is expected to increase considerably. The scholarship fund has been established by IME Ltd. and Global IME Bank Ltd. in association with Higher Secondary Schools’ Association of Nepal (HISSAN) and Private and Boarding Schools’ Organization, Nepal (PABSON). The purpose of the Scholarship Fund is to provide scholarship to financially deprived yet deserving students from grade I to XI from across Nepal at their respective educational institutions.
