The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nepal (ICAN), has announced the rollout of a new syllabus for its Chartered Accountancy (CA) education program during an event held in the capital on Tuesday, May 13.
ICAN issued a press release mentioning that the new syllabus has been developed keeping in mind the growing attraction of the younger generation towards CA education.
The new syllabus has been developed in accordance with the International Education Standards (IES) issued by the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), the apex body of the accountancy profession, reads the statement.
The revised syllabus emphasizes learning objectives based on Technical Knowledge and Professional Skills, aligning with the IES framework.
The implementation dates for this newly developed syllabus for the primary, intermediate, and final levels of Chartered Accountancy education are as follows: December 2025, December 2026, and June 2028, respectively.
ICAN states that the updated syllabus, designed using Learning Objectives and the Technical Knowledge Grid, integrates key accounting areas including Ethics, Sustainability, Technology, Public Financial Management (PFM), and other relevant areas.
The institute believes this modernization will enhance the professional competence of Chartered Accountants, making them more capable in both the national and international business environments.
