The Government of Nepal has decided to mobilize civil servants to ensure the smooth conduction of the upcoming Grade 12 examinations, scheduled to begin on Baisakh 11, 2082 (April 24, 2025). The decision was made during a meeting of the National Examination Board (NEB) held on April 22, 2025.
NEB Chairperson Mahashram Sharma stated that, despite the ongoing protests by some teachers, the board is committed to conducting the examinations on time, considering the academic future of nearly 530,000 students. He added that the board will once again appeal to protesting teachers to participate in and support the examination process.
Sharma further emphasized the board’s commitment to creating a conducive environment for the exams and has urged all examination committees across the country to make necessary preparations accordingly.
The National Examination Board reported that a majority of officials stressed the need to hold the exams at any cost, highlighting the vital role of Chief District Officers (CDOs) in the process. Discussions were held on assigning full responsibility for examination management to the District Coordination Committees, with the CDOs serving as coordinators.
It was also discussed in the meeting that, since not all teachers are participating in the protest, those exam centers where teachers are available can still appoint them as exam center heads and inspectors. Sharma said, “Not all teachers are protesting. As far as possible, we will appoint teachers as center heads and inspectors. Where they are not available, the CDO will find alternatives to ensure the exams are conducted.”
