Government Collaborates with Private Printers for School Textbooks in Upcoming Academic Session

The government has announced its decision to collaborate with private printing organizations for the printing of school-level textbooks in the upcoming academic session. The Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology revealed that for the academic session ahead, the responsibility of printing textbooks for classes 5 to 12 will be exclusively entrusted to Janak Education Material Centre Limited, the sole government organization designated for printing and distributing school textbooks.

Ministry spokesperson Shiv Kumar Sapkota disclosed that, in response to concerns raised by parents and other stakeholders about the timing of decisions on educational matters, the government has opted to involve a private printing company in the printing of textbooks for classes 1 to 4. The move comes amid a tight schedule, with slightly over three months remaining before the commencement of the academic session.

Addressing past concerns, it is worth noting that in the previous academic year, the government had delegated the printing of textbooks for classes 1 to 5 to a private sector publishing company. This year, however, the scope has been narrowed down to classes 1 to 4, reflecting a more targeted approach to streamline the printing process.
