Government announces 'Excellent School Award', 12 schools selected

Kathmandu, Sept 5(RSS):The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has announced the 'Excellent School Award' to be presented to secondary and higher secondary schools adjudged the best at the national level on the occasion of the 39th Education Day and the International Literacy Day. 
 

An award selection committee headed by secretary (ministry) Khagaraj Baral has picked up names of 12 schools towards the community and institutional categories for awards on the basis of their performance in the Secondary Education Exam (SEE-class 10) and Higher Secondary Education Board (HSEB-class 12), as stated by Ministry joint secretary Surya Prasad Gautam. They are Amar Singh Secondary School, Kaski (first); Viswa Niketan School, Tripureshwor, Kathmandu (second) and Bajra Barahi Secondary School, Chapgaun, Lalitpur (third). They are the three top community schools performing the best in the HSEB
 

SOS Hermann Gmeiner School, Sanothimi, Bhaktapur (first); Everest English Boarding School, Biratnagar, Morang (second); and National Secondary School, Imadol, Lalitpur (third) are going to be awarded towards the institutional category. 
 

Likewise, three community schools emerging the top in the SEE at the national level are Shitaladevi Community Secondary School, Pokhara, Kaski (first); Tripadhma Bidhyashram Secondary School, Pulchowk , Lalitpur (second); and Kalika Secondary School, Kalikangar, Butwal. Schools selected towards the institutional group for the same award are Motherland Secondary School Masmar, Pokhara, Kaski; James Secondary School, Dhapakhel, Lalitpur (second); and Gyan Niketan Secondary School, Shankhamul, Kathamandu (third). 
 

The selected schools will be awarded amidst a ceremony scheduled to take place here on coming Saturday. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli will grace the moment as the chief guest. 

The schools will receive Rs 300,000 (first prize), Rs 200,000 (second prize) and Rs 10,000 (third prize) respectively along with certificate and a trophy, as stated by joint secretary Gautam. This time, the awards will be presented by the central level only and from the next time, it will be announced at province and local levels as well.
