Government and Political Parties Announce Education Priorities

The government, along with five major political parties, has publicly disclosed their minimum policy priorities and shared commitments towards prioritizing education in the nation. This announcement came during a special program organized by the Prime Minister's Office and the Council of Ministers at Singha Durbar.

During the event, emphasis was laid on ensuring access to education for all citizens by implementing free and compulsory education laws and regulations. The essence and importance of education were underscored, highlighting the need to make education a fundamental right for all.

Among the resolutions put forward, immediate measures were discussed to address prevalent issues within universities, aiming to put an end to the necessity of seeking higher education abroad. Additionally, there was a call to establish a balance between education and employment opportunities within the country.

Furthermore, the government and political parties expressed their commitment to bridging the gap between educational standards and productivity in both the public and private sectors. Plans were unveiled to leverage digital platforms for e-learning to modernize the education system.

Attempting to enhance educational quality, initiatives were proposed to encourage government employees on leave and interested intellectuals to volunteer as teachers. Moreover, efforts will be made to create an enabling environment for Nepali expatriates who have gained expertise abroad to contribute to the education sector in Nepal.

The announcement signifies a concerted effort by the government and political parties to prioritize education and address key challenges within the sector. It is hoped that these measures will lead to significant improvements in the educational landscape, ensuring equitable access to quality education for all citizens.
