Geta Medical College to be Upgraded to University Status - Prime Minister

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal "Prachanda" announced the ongoing process of converting Geta Medical College into the country's first National University of Health Sciences. During a recent inspection of the facility, the Prime Minister stated that the Health Ministry has already initiated the process and that the approval of posts is expected to be completed soon. The Council of Ministers recently decided to establish the Shaheed Dashrath Chand National University of Health Sciences in Geta.

The Infrastructure Development Committee has already constructed 28 structures for the operation of the college with an additional 11 structures under construction. The works of 12 structures have been forwarded and are expected to be completed by Ashadh 2080. So far, a total of Rs 5.4 billion has been spent on the construction of the college.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the transformation of Geta Medical College into a specialized university in health sciences will move forward practically, following the Cabinet's decision to make it a National University in principle.
