Fostering the Return of Students who have Migrated Abroad: Prime Minister's Initiative

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has expressed the need to make efforts to attract back to the country students who have migrated abroad for education. Addressing the 12th General Assembly of the Agriculture and Forestry University, the Prime Minister announced a program to increase employment and attract students back to the country. He expressed delight at the increased number of students choosing agriculture science as their field of study and emphasized the crucial role the university plays in agriculture and forest development.

The Prime Minister mentioned that despite adopting various measures, the attraction of youth towards agriculture has not increased. He emphasized the need to bring them into agriculture, increase productivity, and enhance entrepreneurship, regardless of the challenges faced.

He highlighted the importance of the university's role in managing agriculture and forest development effectively and expressed his desire to see the university play a significant role in education, research, and extension systems.

The Prime Minister suggested that the university collaborate with stakeholders, including professors, agricultural scientists, students, and technicians, to achieve production and productivity goals without compromising quality.

In his vision for the future, the Prime Minister emphasized effective management of technology production through collaboration in education, research, and extension systems. He pointed out the challenges in the country's agricultural education, research system, and Agriculture and Forestry University and suggested that the university can play an outstanding role in the country's agriculture and forest development.

He mentioned the establishment of colleges in various regions with the goal of establishing eight agricultural clusters and one forestry science cluster under the university. He also commended the educational programs initiated in colleges approved in Syangja and Gorkha.

The Prime Minister urged the university to conduct research-based policy suggestions for climate change, food security, and unemployment. He stressed the importance of the university's role in environmental-friendly modernization, mechanization, and commercialization to contribute to economic development.

Addressing the economic development of rural communities, the Prime Minister suggested that the university, along with national and international organizations, collaborate to uplift the economic status through educational programs, research, and dissemination activities.

The Prime Minister directed the university to operate research and educational programs, internationalize research and education activities, and conduct constructive campaigns holistically.

In conclusion, he appreciated the university's efforts in research, educational activities, physical infrastructure development, and college expansion in Nepal, focusing on natural resource management in agriculture, animal husbandry, fisheries science, animal science, and forest science. The Agriculture and Forestry University was established in 2067 B.S. to study, research, and develop natural resource management in Nepal.
