The search for Tribhuvan University's next Vice-Chancellor has entered a pivotal phase overseen by Education Minister Ashok Rai. After careful consideration, the selection committee has identified three distinguished finalists: Chitra Bahadur Budhathoki, Tankanath Dhamala, and Kesharjung Baral.
Beginning with 42 initial applicants, the rigorous evaluation process commenced on January 08, 2024. By February 08, 2024, the committee had meticulously narrowed the pool to 14 candidates, marking a significant progression in the search.
From February 12 to February 14, 2024, shortlisted candidates participated in a series of interviews and presentations, showcasing their visions for Tribhuvan University's future.
An esteemed panel, comprising Prof. Dr. Chandra Bahadur Shrestha, Prof. Dr. Sureshraj Sharma, Education Secretary Suresh Adhikari, and Chandrakala Ghimire, meticulously evaluated the candidates' proposals, guiding the final recommendations.
The committee has now forwarded its recommendations to Prime Minister and TU Chancellor Pushpa Kamal Dahal, who holds the authority to make the ultimate appointment decision. This development represents a crucial milestone in the university's journey towards academic excellence and innovation.
Since the conclusion of Prof. Dr. Dharmakant Baskota's tenure on July 16, 2023, interim leadership has been maintained under Prof. Dr. Shivlal Bhusal's guidance.
