April 04, 2024

Mr. Dalsher Rai and his wife Chamkumari Rai's sons and daughters have initiated a perpetual fund of Rs. 5 lakhs at a foundational school located in Bamrang district. This benevolent act, undertaken on Chaitra 22, aims to bolster educational opportunities for students in the region.

The endowment, aptly named the 'Dalsher-Chamkumari Rai Educational Endowment', is a testament to the Rai family's commitment to honoring their grandparents. Notably, Milen Rai, a former major in the British Army, along with Ramchandra Rai, and their daughters Anuta Rai, Avisara Rai, Anjana Rai, and Ambika Rai, are being remembered through this noble initiative.

The fund's interest will be utilized to recognize outstanding students who consistently demonstrate exemplary academic performance. Specifically, students who maintain perfect attendance and achieve the highest scores in the annual examinations of class 7 will be duly rewarded. The establishment of this endowment underscores the Rai family's dedication to nurturing academic excellence within the community.

Furthermore, the Rai family's philanthropic endeavors extend beyond mere financial contributions. Born in Bamrang and having transitioned to the UK for professional pursuits, their children have taken proactive steps in managing the endowment fund. Under the leadership of local volunteer Raees Rai, a seven-member management committee has been formed to oversee the fund's operations.

It's worth noting that Mr. Dalsher Rai had previously served as the chairman of the school management committee for two terms, further underscoring the family's longstanding commitment to educational advancement in the region.
