A Paragliding School specializing in 'High Altitude' activities has commenced operations in Lamjung. The Babu Adventure Paragliding Company has inaugurated the school in Dordi Rural Municipality-8, Thonti of Lamjung.
Sanobabu Sunuwar, the company's owner, revealed that the school, situated at an elevation of 3,900 meters, will impart skills in paragliding and flying amidst the high Himalayas. He emphasized that the school operates with the approval of the Civil Aviation Authority and in collaboration with the local authorities.
Yuvraj Adhikari, the chairman of the rural municipality, noted that Dordi Rural Municipality has provided essential infrastructure support for the paragliding school's operations. He expressed the belief that the school would contribute to the promotion of various tourist destinations, including Bhedigoth within the rural municipality.
The presiding officer highlighted the new opportunities the paragliding school brings to the local community. He stated, "The establishment of a school in a tourist area leads to local employment opportunities. Additionally, providing training to the locals creates avenues for employment."
Babu Adventure Paragliding Company has successfully run a paragliding school in Bheerkot Municipality-5, Swarek Field of Syangja for nine years. Several companies have expressed interest in collaborating and supporting the paragliding school. Notably, Red Bull's 'Adventure' team recently visited Nepal and inspected the school, pledging their support.
Krishna Bhattarai, the outgoing president of the Nepal Air Sports Association (NA), highlighted that foreign tourists visit Nepal not only for mountain climbing but also for 'high altitude' paragliding. He stressed the rarity of high altitude paragliding worldwide and sees significant potential for it in Nepal.
Bhattarai believes that the school will play a crucial role in producing skilled manpower for adventure paragliding and contribute to earning foreign currency. He stated, "Nepal boasts numerous exceptional destinations for paragliding and adventure tourism," expressing confidence in the school's positive impact on the sector.
