Eighteen Candidates Apply for Vice Chancellor Position at Purbanchal University

Purbanchal University has witnessed keen interest in its search for a new Vice Chancellor, with a total of eighteen candidates applying for the esteemed position.

The appointment process, overseen by a specially formed recommendation committee, has recently unveiled the list of applicants vying for the role of Vice Chancellor.

The selection committee, tasked with shortlisting candidates for the Vice Chancellor position, had set a fifteen-day window for applications, with the deadline expiring on Falgun 08.

Noteworthy among the applicants are current members of the university's senate, active professors, and former deans, each bringing a wealth of experience and expertise to the table.

For instance, applicant Bhattarai currently serves as the dean of the university's Engineering Department, while Paudel holds a senate position at Purbanchal University and concurrently serves as the principal of Himalayan WhiteHouse International College. Pathak, another applicant, previously served as the dean of Science and Technology at Purbanchal University, alongside Thapaliya and Koirala, who held positions as former deans of the Management Department.

According to the prescribed procedure for the Vice Chancellor selection, the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology will oversee the shortlisting process, ensuring transparency and adherence to guidelines.

This surge in interest mirrors a similar trend observed during the previous selection process at Tribhuvan University, where 43 candidates applied for the Vice Chancellor vacancy, culminating in the shortlisting of 14 candidates, with three final names forwarded to Prime Minister and Chancellor Pushpa Kamal Dahal for consideration.

The recommendation committee, chaired by the Minister of Education, underscores the significance of this appointment, highlighting the pivotal role the Vice Chancellor plays in shaping the academic landscape of Purbanchal University.
