Chitra lekha yadav; former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and a leader of the Nepali Congress is appointed as a Education Minister today.

Yadav was born in 1965 in a village in Siraha district. She is the first daughter of  Yamuna Prasad yadav, progressive father who was the first Yadav university graduate in the district (studying English and Economics in India's Patna University).  There was no trend of educating female child in Yadav community, but because of her father's attitude towards education, she got the chance of completing school education from Kathmandu.

She said  "My father invested his property, not to build a big house but for educating his children. Some relatives and neighbors laughed at him as my father sold his land to send his children to school. But he didn't care as he knew the importance of education."

She got married to Dr Shri Krishna Yadav, who had a doctorate in linguistics at a age of 15 when she was reading 9th grade. After marrying Shri Krishna, her family supported her to complete her education.

Chitra Lekha Yadav has done Master of Arts in English and Nepali from Tribhuvan University. She has once taught English in Siraha campus for about 18 months before joining active politics.
