Education Ministry Urges Community Schools to Utilize Vacations for Teaching Purposes

The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MOEST) has requested community schools across the country to continue teaching and learning activities during the upcoming winter or summer vacations, depending on the convenience and capacity of individual schools.

This move comes in response to the disruption caused by the recent Kathmandu-centered protests led by teachers and school employee the March 2025. According to the ministry, these protests had a significant impact on student admissions and regular teaching schedules in community schools.

In a press release issued by the MOEST, the ministry emphasized that schools should make appropriate arrangements to recover lost instructional time, based on the commitment expressed by the Nepal Teachers' Association.

“This request has been made citing that it is desirable to improve the administrative arrangements of the school by managing issues such as absenteeism in schools caused due to the participation of teachers and employees in professional protest and keeping the morale of teachers high”, the statement reads.

The ministry has called upon all community schools to implement this measure responsibly, ensuring minimal disruption to students' education while managing staff welfare effectively.
