Education Ministry Directs Teachers Back to Work

The Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology has issued a directive mandating the return of all teachers to their respective duties, with the exception of those currently engaged in treating critical illnesses. This decision, applicable to community schools nationwide, aims to ensure the smooth functioning of educational institutions.

According to spokesperson Keshab Prasad Dahal from the Ministry of Education, the decision to reinstate teachers' assignments was reached during a high-level meeting at the secretary level. Dahal highlighted instances where some teachers had overstepped disciplinary boundaries, failing to provide necessary information to school administrations and authorities, and attempting to leave school premises without proper authorization. As a response, the ministry has decided to recall all teachers to their duties.

Education Minister Sumana Shrestha emphasized the urgency of restoring normalcy in teaching and learning environments, especially after disruptions caused by various extraneous activities involving teachers in unrelated organizations. Minister Shrestha stressed the importance of prioritizing educational responsibilities, except in cases where teachers are involved in critical medical duties.

Despite challenges, teacher leaders from organizations such as the Nepal Teachers' Association have been commended for their dedicated efforts. These leaders have demonstrated commitment by actively engaging in various tasks, even balancing responsibilities between Kathmandu-based work and field duties, without succumbing to distractions.
