Easily Accessible Temporary Learning Centers Set up in Rukum Paschim

Learning is facilitated through the establishment of temporary learning centers in the Aathbiskot Municipality of Rukum Paschim, which suffered damage from the Jajarkot earthquake. In Ward No. 13 and 14 of the municipality, education is being conducted within temporary learning centers.

Janayuva Basic School in Ward No. 13 and Adarsha Secondary School in Ward No. 14 are utilizing these centers for teaching. Nar Bahadur Oli, assistant principal of Adarsha Secondary School, expressed that teaching students in the temporary learning center has been a smooth process. With financial assistance from the Budhist Chartered Foundation, they have constructed an earthquake-resistant building, enabling the progress of students' education.

Assistant Principal Oli stated, "The establishment of temporary learning centers has simplified the teaching and learning process for both students and teachers. Regardless of the cold weather, students face no issues in studying, and they can stay protected from the sun, rain, and wind."

The Chuji Chartered Foundation has erected a nine-room temporary learning center at Adarsha Secondary School, incurring a cost of Rs.25 lakh. However, there is a need for an additional nine rooms in the school. Each classroom can accommodate 40 to 55 students, and the construction materials include zinc sheets, cement, iron, boards, foam, and plywood. The structure is designed to last for 30 years, and the materials used can be relocated and reused.

Balika Malla, an eighth-grade student at the school, mentioned the convenience of studying in the temporary learning center. "Studying used to be challenging under a canopy, but since classes moved to the temporary learning center, it's easier to avoid the cold and wind. It feels like studying in a concrete building," she remarked.

Assistant Prof. Oli highlighted the challenges faced by the school, where students from some classes are taught in an open-air square. The school also lacks toilets and water facilities. The earthquake in Kartik 17th severely damaged the school building, rendering it inhabitable.

Additionally, a four-classroom temporary learning center has been established at Janayuva Basic School in Ward No. 13 of the municipality, with an expenditure of 14 lakh rupees.
