Dr. Bindu Nath Lohani has been appointed as the Vice Chancellor of Nepal University, according to the provisions of the Nepal University Act 2081. He will serve in this position for a term of four years.
Dr. Lohani earned his bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a gold medal from Birla Institute of Technology in India in 1970. He then obtained a master's degree in Civil Engineering from the University of North Carolina in the USA in 1974, followed by a doctorate in Environmental Technology and Management from the Asian Institute of Technology in Bangkok in 1977.
He began his professional career in the civil service of the Government of Nepal and later spent 30 years working for the Asian Development Bank (ADB). Initially, he joined the ADB as a professor at the Asian Institute of Technology and eventually held several significant positions within the organization, culminating in his role as Vice President.
Dr. Lohani is a prolific author and has published numerous works on development and environmental issues. He is widely regarded as a leading figure in the fields of development, environment, and management, both nationally and internationally. Over the years, he has received several prestigious awards and honors in recognition of his contributions to these areas.
