The Prime Minister, who is also the Chancellor of Mid-West University, appointed Prof. Dr. Dhruba Kumar Gautam as Vice-Chancellor of Mid-West University. He will serve as 4th Vice Chancellor of this University.

The Government had formed a committee under the coordination of Dr. Dev Raj Adhikari, Chairman of the University Grants Commission, to select and recommend Mid-West University's vice-chancellors. The committee recommended Dr. Dhruba Kumar Gautam, Prof. Dr. Nanda Bahadur Singh, and Dr. Dev Bahadur Khadka.
Before this appointment, Prof. Dr. Dhruba Kumar Gautam worked as the Planning Directorate Director at Tribhuvan University. The post of VC of Mid West University was vacant after Prof. Dr. Nandabahadur Singh completed his tenure a few months ago. He was also one of the short-listed candidates for this term.
