Devendra Poudel Appointed New Minister of Education, Science and Technology

Devendra Poudel, a Maoist center leader has been appointed the new Minister of Education, Science, and Technology on the PM Deuba's recommendation to President Bidhya Devi Bhandari.

Poudel was appointed as the Education Minister after the ministry’s division in the meeting of the top leaders of the ruling coalition parties yesterday. 

Poudel, who was born in Baddadada, Amalachaur, Baglung on December 11, 2021 BS, entered politics in 2036 BS along with the student movement. Poudel, who has a master's degree in political science from Tribhuvan University, had advanced politics from the then fourth general convention.

Newly appointed Education Minister Poudel is a permanent member of the Maoists. In 2068 BS, he became the chief political advisor to then Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai after being underground for ten years in the armed rebellion. Poudel had joined Bhattarai after founding Naya Shakti, but in 2074 BS he returned to the Maoist Center.

In the expanded cabinet on Friday, Bodh Mayakumari Yadav, an MP from Dhanusha, has been given the responsibility of State Minister of Education, Science and Technology along with Poudel.
