The Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT), Office of the Controller of Examinations, Sanothimi, has announced that the admission process for Pre-Diploma, Diploma, and Certificate level programs for the academic year 2083/084 will begin from the day the Secondary Education Examination (SEE) results are published.
Issuing a notice on 2083/01/22, the Office informed all affiliated institutions to carry out admission activities in accordance with the “Operational Guidelines for Entrance, Admission and Registration for Academic Year 2083/084.”
Admission Notice and Publication
As per the guidelines, the Examination Control Office will publish a centralized admission notice covering all eligible and approved institutions. The notice will include details such as institution names, locations, and programs in operation, based on previously published records, with necessary updates.
Following this, institutions may promote their programs through websites, social media, prospectuses, and other communication channels based on the official notice.
Admission Process and Merit System
All institutions must conduct admission strictly under the directives issued by the Examination Control Office. This includes:
- Collection of applications
- Conduct of selection procedures
- Publication of merit lists (main and waiting lists)
- Completion of admissions based on eligibility criteria
Admissions will be determined primarily based on SEE (or equivalent) GPA or marks.
Minimum Eligibility Criteria
- Diploma (Health Programs): Minimum GPA 2.0
- Other Diploma Programs: Minimum GPA 1.6
- Pre-Diploma Programs: SEE appeared
For merit ranking, additional weightage will be applied:
- Community school students: 1.0
- Institutional school students: 0.85
- Students from foreign institutions: no additional weight
In case of equal scores, priority will be given in the following order:
- Higher marks in Mathematics, Science, and English
- Students from remote and underprivileged regions
- Senior candidates by age
Timeline for Health Programs
For health-related diploma programs:
- Application collection period: 15 days from notice publication
- Result publication: within 3 days after the application deadline
- Admission completion: within 10 days of result publication
If seats remain vacant, institutions must issue additional notices and admit candidates from the waiting list based on merit.
Provisions for Other Programs
For non-health programs, institutions may admit students after the start of the academic session, allowing applicants to fill out online forms and enroll on the same day.
Additional Instructions
- Application forms must be made available online, with options for self-submission or institutional assistance
- Students who have studied abroad must submit equivalency certificates issued by a recognized authority of the Government of Nepal
- GPA conversion will follow the Letter Grading Directive 2078 (with amendments)
CTEVT has also instructed institutions to establish help desks to guide students in choosing programs and completing online applications, ensuring a more accessible and transparent admission process.
