CTEVT Grants Institutions Authority in Conducting Entrance Exams

The Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) has released comprehensive guidelines that have the potential to reshape the landscape of student admissions in the year 2080. The recently unveiled guidelines pave the way for schools and colleges to take charge of the admission process, including conducting entrance examinations and distributing scholarships, for a wide array of programs. With the exception of certificate level Nursing, Pharmacy, and Health Assistant (HA) programs, educational institutions are now empowered to organize entrance examinations for all other programs.

CTEVT has delegated all responsibilities, including the admission process for 18 educational programs, to the respective institutions. This includes conducting entrance exams for diploma and certificate levels, distributing scholarships, and issuing admission guidelines. The directive has established provisions that grant educational institutions the authority to handle the entire process from entrance examinations to the selection of candidates for programs such as agriculture, engineering, lab technology, Ayurveda, and more, which are offered through CTEVT.

As per the directive, colleges have the authority to organize examinations through the formation of a three-member committee responsible for managing the entrance examination. This committee comprises the head of the local level education branch and a college instructor.

CTEVT oversees the implementation of educational programs in various types of institutions. These include 65 private schools, 52 partnership schools, 429 private schools, and 664 community schools. Within these institutions, scholarships are being awarded to 10 percent of the students, which amounts to a total of 8,400 beneficiaries.
