Science Project Name: Green Independent Village

The project's name was Green Independent Village. This is a project that showed a working model of a locality which is self dependent on the resources which is produced by itself. The model showed several houses from which the liquid and solid wastes from latrines were systematically transported through a closed drainage system to a chamber. The chamber was called Bio-gas Refining center where the wastes were used to produce bio gas, which was then distributed to all the same houses. The remaining solid wastes in the chamber was sent to compost manure refining center where the wastes were converted into compost manure and used in the field near that locality. This way the village was self reliant on fertilizer which also preserves the fertility of the soil.
The model also showed the rainwater harvest. The rainwater collected from the roof and the streets were channeled into a large scale water filter. The students made the water filter in a step-wise arrangement which contained pebbles, coarse sand, fine sand, charcoal and aeration serially in different levels. The filtered water can be used for household purposes like: cleaning and washing.
The project also showed a working model of mini hydro-electric power station which produced electricity by the help of rivers around the village. This electricity was used to power up the village.
The goals of the project were to
-demonstrate the ways to eliminate the use of non-renewable energy.

-manage solid and liquid waste

-harvest rain water

-preservation of soil

-reduction of pollution

Hence, the project was selected for the winner project among the other exhibitors.
