The second national convention of the Nepal National Teachers' Association is starting today (Baisakh 10, 2081). The main component of the association, the Nepal National Teachers' Association, has stated that it will not participate if there is no consensus on the convention.
The organization announced its decision not to participate in the convention, citing the rejection of the proposal to hold the convention made by the national committee in a meeting, which contradicts the constitution of the association.
The organization's general secretary, Hansa Bahadur Shahi, accused the organization's secretary-general, Laxmi Kishor Subedi, of obstructing membership renewal, excluding newly appointed teachers in schools, depriving technical teachers of membership, and violating democratic procedures. Subedi, on the other hand, mentioned that despite holding discussions and dialogues at various stages, the organization moved forward based on decisions made solely by the participating meeting, indicating that he had been removed from various stages of decision-making.
