Changunarayan Municipality and Lord Buddha Education Foundation sign MoU for scholarship

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed between Changunarayan Municipality and Lord Buddha Education Foundation (LBEF) to provide scholarships for deserving students from the municipality at bachelor's level. The scholarship aims to produce capable technical human resources in the Municipality. Mayor Som Prasad Mishra and Foundation's president Pankaj Jalan signed the MoU according to which at least three students selected by the municipality will get a full scholarship while at least four students will get a 50 percent scholarship.

Similarly, at least five students will get a 25 percent scholarship in each new academic session for B.Sc Information Technology in the Asian Pacific University, according to the municipality. The MoU was signed to produce capable technical human resources to aid in building Changunarayan as the digital municipality as well as to increase access of the diligent students from low-income families to higher technical education LBEF Campus run by the Foundation is the first IT college in the country, said Foundation president Jalan, adding that the college has been providing IT education in several places across Nepal in affiliation with various universities for the past 23 years.

Furthermore, at least 50 students studying in the municipality and its surrounding areas will be sent to the college every fiscal year to participate in at least one skill development and capacity-building training. The municipality, in each academic session, will provide an opportunity to five students nominated by the college to work as IT volunteers under the trainee program. The students, however, must complete the 5th semester of their course. Also, at least 50 youths and students selected by the municipality will be provided with technical skill development training to help build and enhance their capacity.
