On the 6th of Poush, 2080, the Human Resource Management Department at the Central Office of Nepal Rastra Bank released an "Information regarding filling out an application form," which the individual obtained from the bank's website. The notice outlined the recruitment process for various Officer III and Assistant II positions through open competition. Specifically, the announcement called for applications for a total of 10 positions for the roles of Assistant Director (Information Technology) and Assistant (Information Technology), requiring a Bachelor's in Computer Application (BCA) degree. Grievances have been received from students who have studied BCA, expressing their inability to complete the application process.
Tribhuvan University provides four-year computer-focused bachelor's degrees across different faculties, such as BE Computer Engineering in the Engineering Faculty, BSC CSIT and BIT in the Computer Science Department, BIM in the Management Faculty, and BCA in the Humanities Faculty. Numerous students have raised concerns as BCA, despite being a computer-related subject, was placed under the Humanities Faculty, preventing them from applying under the Information Technology Group.
Communications have been made with the University and the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology, addressing the categorization issue in the faculty.
Following complaints from students via email and phone, a thorough examination of the course structures revealed that the content is essentially the same. However, considering the specific skill set required by Nepal Rastra Bank, informing the individual about those skills would enable them to identify courses aligned with those skills at the University. This proactive approach can bridge the gap between job seekers and employers. There is confidence that among BCA students, highly qualified candidates can be identified for the available positions.
The former Vice-Chancellor of the University clarified that there is no theoretical difference in these subjects; the distinction lies in the faculty. Due to unhealthy competition in universities, computer-related courses are distributed across various faculties. Consequently, the university will be urged to address this issue and find a solution to the challenges faced by students. Despite BCA being approved in different faculties, an appeal is made for a reconsideration of the application criteria. This will ensure that BCA students are not unjustly deprived of opportunities due to administrative aspects beyond their control while emphasizing efficiency.
Recognizing the institution's need for excellent and skilled manpower, there is optimism that BCA students can fulfill the requirements and contribute meaningfully to the bank.
