Test takers of the British Council IELTS who don't attain their desired results on their initial attempt will now have a groundbreaking solution at their disposal. The introduction of the One Skill Retake feature offers a significant advantage by enabling test takers to retake a specific section of the IELTS exam, whether it's Listening, Reading, Writing, or Speaking. This innovation maintains the same format and timing as the corresponding section in a standard IELTS test, saving test takers valuable time by eliminating the need to redo the other three sections.
Andrew Mackenzie, Director of IELTS at the British Council, emphasized that One Skill Retake was developed in response to feedback from IELTS customers. He stated, "We understand that, with proper preparation and support, our test takers can perform at their best on test day. However, One Skill Retake provides an opportunity for test takers to redo a single skill if they believe their initial performance didn't accurately reflect their English proficiency. We believe this enhances fairness."
He further explained, "Organizations that accept the IELTS One Skill Retake can offer candidates the flexibility to meet entry requirements without compromising on applicant quality. This initiative underscores our commitment to assisting test takers in realizing their full potential."
Individuals who opt for the IELTS One Skill Retake will receive an additional Test Report Form that can be utilized for migration and academic purposes. Depending on their score, test takers can decide whether they want to use their original or new test report for the skill they are retaking. The IELTS One Skill Retake can be scheduled within 60 days of the initial IELTS test.
Raimann Maxim, Director Exams Nepal, expressed their dedication to empowering IELTS test takers in Nepal to achieve their best scores, making them the sole major high-stakes test provider offering this new option. He affirmed, "We take pride in this initiative, which underscores our commitment to helping test takers reach their full potential."
