Beni Municipality has launched a skill-based learning initiative titled “We Can, We Do” to equip secondary-level students with practical skills alongside academic education.

The program aims to connect education with vocational training, enabling students to develop income-generating abilities and contribute to their households and communities. Mayor Surat KC stated that the initiative is designed to produce skilled human resources, promote self-employment, and support local employment opportunities.

For the fiscal year 2081/82 B.S., the municipality has allocated NPR 1 lakh to each of the 16 participating secondary schools, totaling NPR 1.6 million. According to Education Officer Kamal Dhakal, 12 schools have already signed implementation agreements, while four are in the final stages of the process.

Schools are offering a variety of training programs based on local needs and student interests. These include mushroom farming, plumbing, haircutting, wall painting, house wiring, bamboo crafts, basic beauty training, and field survey skills.

The municipality expanded the program to all secondary schools following its positive impact in 10 schools during fiscal year 2079/80. Training sessions are scheduled to accommodate students' availability, and around 1,000 students are expected to participate this year.
