Balkalyan Secondary School in Phaleni, Lamjung, situated within Dordi Rural Municipality 7, celebrated its 50th anniversary, commemorating five decades of educational service. This significant occasion was highlighted by substantial financial contributions from local benefactors, totaling an impressive amount of 40 Lakh 18 thousand rupees.
The funds were raised as part of a financial support campaign initiated for the establishment of Akshay Kosh, as reported by the school. Principal Navraj Ghimire shared that the campaign garnered notable support, with Kharba Tamang of Dordi-8 Bansar contributing the highest amount, a generous three lakh rupees. Ghimire explained that the ongoing financial support drive for Akshaya Kosh was launched in conjunction with the Golden Festival, attracting the participation of over 250 individuals.
Ghimire emphasized that the financial campaign would persist beyond the Golden Festival, with the goal of further augmenting the Akshaya Kosh fund. This fund is instrumental in elevating the educational standards of the school, and Ghimire expressed gratitude for the community's dedication to supporting these initiatives.
Catering to a substantial number of students from the Gurung community in Dhordi, Phaleni, and Bansar areas, Balkalyan Secondary School has been proactive in implementing programs for student welfare. The earmarked funds will be utilized for scholarships, hostel construction, and provision of transportation facilities for students hailing from economically disadvantaged families. Currently, over 200 students benefit from these improved educational facilities.
