Bagmati Province government has taken a significant step towards enhancing its control over technical education within its jurisdiction. The decision came during a cabinet meeting convened to address key administrative matters.
The primary focus of the meeting was to deliberate on the integration of the Council of Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) board under the provincial government's authority. It was unanimously agreed that bringing CTEVT under provincial jurisdiction would streamline the management and administration of technical education initiatives in the region.
One of the pivotal decisions made during the meeting was the approval of the establishment of the CTEVT office along with its organizational structure, staffing allocations, and operational details. This move aims to optimize the functionality of CTEVT and ensure its effective implementation across the province.
Minister for Internal Affairs and Planning Ganga Narayan Shrestha illuminated the constitutional provision dictating the transfer of CTEVT to provincial control. Despite this provision, the actual transfer of authority has not materialized, leading to operational inefficiencies within the organization. Minister Shrestha emphasized the need for proactive steps to address these challenges and expedite the integration process.
As part of the approved measures, thirteen key positions, including that of the chief executive officer, have been sanctioned for the CTEVT office. Additionally, the provincial government has greenlit the recruitment of five additional staff members to bolster the office's operational capacity and ensure smooth functioning.
