Former Chief of the Foreign Studies Department (NOC), Shanti Ram Paudel, has publicly disclosed the reason for his inability to work since the 30th of Falgun through social media. He submitted his resignation properly. At the time of his resignation, around 9,000 students had applied for NOC. Following his resignation, Education Minister Sumana Shrestha pledged to assist with the review. The Ministry delegated the responsibility to Vasudev Basti.
Upon arriving at the branch, he pledged to manage the crowd within seven days. When he assumed his duties, there were 8,184 applicants awaiting NOC. The branch, aiming to process 1,500 applications daily and issue NOCs, has surpassed its target and is issuing NOCs to more than 1,500 students daily.
The branch reported a decrease in the number of waiting applicants to around 2,000. As of yesterday afternoon, on the 4th of Chaitra, 2080, there were only 2,442 individuals awaiting NOC. The branch issued NOCs to 2,089 individuals and received applications from 1,840 individuals just yesterday. Additionally, 650 new students applied for NOC yesterday.
In Falgun alone, 13,945 individuals obtained NOCs. The branch stated that a total of 71,063 individuals have received NOCs by the end of Falgun of the current fiscal year, 2080. Furthermore, many students have recently obtained NOCs for Japan and Korea.
In Falgun, 8,091 individuals acquired NOCs for Japan, 2,610 for Australia, 1,660 for Canada, 559 for the UK, 234 for India, 169 for the UAE, and 125 for South Korea.
