Agriculture and Forestry University to Introduce Agricultural Engineering Program

Agriculture and Forestry University is set to introduce an Agricultural e\Engineering program in a bid to enhance agricultural education and innovation. The decision comes as part of the university's initiative to broaden its academic offerings and cater to the evolving needs of the agricultural sector.

With plans to commence operations from the upcoming academic session, the university will establish a dedicated Agricultural Engineering College. This strategic move aligns with the university's commitment to provide comprehensive education in fields such as agriculture, forestry, animal science, and fisheries.

The recent 12th regular meeting of the university senate saw unanimous approval for the establishment of the Agricultural Engineering College. The college will initially accommodate a total of 48 students, paving the way for aspiring agricultural engineers to pursue their academic interests.

Arjun Kumar Shrestha, the Dean of the University, expressed enthusiasm about the prospects, highlighting the significance of this development. "The introduction of agricultural engineering reflects the university's dedication to addressing the growing demand for skilled professionals in the agricultural sector," remarked Dean Shrestha.

Notably, the decision to introduce agricultural engineering comes at a time when neighboring countries like India are significantly investing in agricultural education and technology. Currently, the Eastern Engineering College in Dhankuta stands as the sole institution offering education in this specialized field within the region.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Punya Prasad Regmi emphasized the broader implications of the initiative. "The establishment of the Agricultural Engineering College underscores our commitment to fostering innovation and modernization in agriculture," stated Vice-Chancellor Regmi. He underscored the university's mission to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to drive agricultural productivity and socioeconomic development in rural communities.

The university aims to integrate advanced research, teaching methodologies, and practical applications to nurture a skilled workforce capable of addressing contemporary challenges in agriculture. Through collaborative efforts and interdisciplinary approaches, the university seeks to position itself as a leader in agricultural education and innovation.

As the nation's agricultural landscape continues to evolve, the establishment of the Agricultural Engineering College represents a significant step towards harnessing technology and innovation to propel the sector forward. With its steadfast commitment to excellence, the Agriculture and Forestry University remains at the forefront of agricultural education and research, poised to shape the future of agriculture in the country.
