Tribhuvan University and Beijing Foreign Studies University have reached an agreement on academic exchange, teaching, and research collaboration.
The Vice-Chancellor of Tribhuvan University, Prof. Dr. Keshar Jung Baral, and the Chairman of the Beijing Foreign Studies University Council, Professor Dr. Wang Dinghua, signed the agreement today (Chaitra 27, 2080).
According to the agreement, students, faculty, scholars, and university academic administrators will engage in reciprocal exchanges. Both universities have pledged to collaborate in joint research ventures and facilitate the exchange of educational materials and information.
Joint committees will be established between the two universities to implement the agreement. Financial considerations related to its execution will be discussed and negotiated separately. Additionally, provisions for further consultation will be included in the agreement.
The duration of the agreement will be five years and will be subject to renewal upon written consent from both parties.
On this occasion, Professor Dr. Dinghua emphasized that the agreement signifies a new dimension in bilateral relations between the two universities and between Nepal and China. He highlighted that Beijing Foreign Studies University has signed similar agreements with over 185 leading universities worldwide.
Professor Dr. Baral expressed his commitment to enhancing cooperation between the two universities in mutual academic and traditional knowledge exchange, mainly focusing on the Himalayan region and promoting famous treatment methods there.
Professor Dr. Kushum Shakya, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities at Tribhuvan University, underscored the potential for collaboration between Beijing Foreign Studies University and Tribhuvan University, especially in areas related to the humanities.
Dr. Dinghua, Chair of the Asian and African Studies School, and Director Indira Jung of the School of African Studies, both from Beijing Foreign Studies University, were present at the event, among others.
